2024 Application for Returning Non-members
Welcome back to AHB
You’ve been there. You know how much fun it is. You know the drill. You know about being prepared. We're glad that you want to come back to the AHB.
Before submitting your application, please review AHB's Code of Conduct Statement (Effective 10/10/23).
Application Process
In order to insure the success of the Brigade, all participants need to apply to qualify for participation. Your application will be reviewed by our Membership Committee. Qualified singers will be invited based on their application, and on a first approved-first invited basis. Participation is limited to 32 singers per voice part, so apply soon. Complete your application right away to get the benefit of any applicable early review.
If you're still interested once the deadline has passed, please contact the Membership VP Tamara Hitchcock directly to see if there's still space.
Cost
Cost of the 2024 Brigade is $329. There is a $150 deposit due upon registration to pay for music and learning tracks. A final payment of $179 is due on or before July 1. Anyone who has not paid in full by that time will not be registered for a room. Unless other special arrangements have been made through our Housing VP, Paul Santino , you will be considered to have dropped from this year’s rally.
How to Apply
Upon being Invited
When your application and deposit are accepted, you’ll be notified, and the learning materials (mp3’s and pdf’s) will be made available to you in early April. Once invited, you will occasionally receive pre-event e-mail info and information will be provided on the AHB website. Be sure to keep up to date and reply to email in a timely fashion, if requested. Most questions can be answered on the website. All rooms are double occupancy and nonsmoking. The Brigade will randomly assign roommates of the same sex, unless specific roommate requests are made, in writing. If you wish to have a single room, that option will be available for an additional $113 fee.
Withdrawal After Acceptance
The AHB requests that an invitee who realizes—through their own self-evaluation or their sponsor’s—that they will be unable to meet the required level of preparation, voluntarily withdraw themselves prior to July 1st and notify the Brigade immediately. Although an invitee who withdraws will forfeit their deposit, they will keep the music and learning materials and will be spared potential disappointment and embarrassment. More importantly, they will be respecting the time, work, and effort of those who attend the event and are well prepared. Also, there may be a waiting list, and therefore an invitee’s withdrawal may provide an opportunity for another applicant to participate.
Applying for AHB Membership at the Rally
If you successfully complete your second consecutive AHB Rally, you will be able to apply for membership at the Rally. Members are automatically invited and accepted each year. Members also have access to a “members only” page where they can easily contact other members by email. They also receive a beautiful AHB lapel pin to wear proudly at all barbershop events and a certificate of membership suitable for framing. Membership is by approved recorded vocal audition. Details will be given at the Rally but be certain to bring a digital voice recording device to the Rally.
On Being Prepared
The fun, camaraderie, rewards, and success of the Harmony Brigade depend on all its participants being completely prepared. The fun that you and all of the quartet partners you’ll sing with throughout the weekend have will stem from YOU subscribing to an ethic that says, "Coming unprepared is NOT an option." If it is determined at the event that a participant is not properly prepared, they will be disqualified from participating in the quartet contest and may be required to stand down from other Brigade activities. In this case, fees are nonrefundable. Participants who are not prepared are NOT invited back to future rallies.
If you have any general membership or application questions or comments, please free to contact: Tamara Hitchcock, Membership VP or visit: www.AtlanticHarmonyBrigade.com.
