Brigade Mission

The mission of the Atlantic Harmony Brigade is to provide an extremely rewarding, fraternal, fun-filled venue for quarteting, quartet networking. and performing. It is geared for highly motivated, capable, experienced barbershop singers. The object of participating is to demonstrate, share, and improve one's quarteting skills, and to broaden one's musical and artistic horizons. A guiding ethos of personal and group responsibility requires every man to commit to saying, "I will be the reason everyone who sings with me will be glad they came."

Brigade Events and Awards

Grand Prize: The Guy We Were Glad We Sang With Award:
The quintessential object of the Brigade is to come prepared to be the guy everyone was glad they sang with. The top award, an engraved  loving cup, is voted on by all participants. It is given to the man that not only came so well prepared that he made his quartet partners sound good, but he helped (more than anyone else) make their attendance rewarding and fun. The winner of this award is invited to return the following year FREE.

The Quartet Tramp Award: This award is earned by the man (or men) who quartets in the most number of quartets during the weekend. Upon arrival, everyone is issued a "dance card" and 126 of his own personalized stickers. After singing in a quartet, the members exchange stickers and place them on their own dance cards. These stickers also serve to allow singers to contact each other after the Brigade rally should they wish to form quartets after the main event. The winner of this award is also invited to return the following year FREE. In the case of ties, one FREE scholarship will be divided equally among the winners.

The Quartet Contest Awards: The random quartet  contest is formally adjudicated by well know qualified BHS personal including  Certified Judges and Society Directors, loosely following Society rules. After two round of competition, each member of the three top scoring quartets is awarded accordingly, a genuine simulated Gold, Silver, or Bronze (suitable for framing) certificate acknowledging his accomplishment and his luck of the draw.

Run-Throughs

After the learning materials are distributed, a schedule of "run-throughs" or mini-rehearsals will be scheduled. Attendance is voluntary but very highly recommended. Run-throughs are a great opportunity to sing selected songs in quartet combinations prior to the Rally. This is the place to fine tune your preparedness.  A schedule will be emailed to all participants. Coming unprepared is NOT an option. Go to run-throughs.
